Southern Indiana Power Linemen Place 1st Overall at Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo
Tell City, Ind.- August 31, 2026
A lineman team from Southern Indiana Power competed at the Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo, held Aug. 20-21 in Danville. The two-day event showcased the skills and safety training of electric cooperative lineworkers. The Southern Indiana Power team was one of only two teams with zero errors resulting in a 1st Place Overall Team finish.
Southern Indiana Power sent one team and three individuals to the state competition. The linemen competed in events that test skills such as pole climbing, hurt man rescue, and safely changing electric line hardware. A total of 29 teams and 67 individual competitors from 23 Indiana electric cooperatives competed in this year’s event.
The following linemen represented Southern Indiana Power at the rodeo:
- Travis Goffinet, Journeyman Lineman, 1st Place Overall Lineman Team, 2nd Place Team Crossarm Changeout.
- Jim Applegate, Journeyman Lineman, 1st Place Overall Lineman Team, 2nd Place Team Crossarm Changeout, 2nd Place Overall Senior Lineman, 2nd Place A2 Tie-In Senior Division, 2nd Place Hurtman Rescue Senior Division.
- Clint Heeke, Journeyman Lineman, 1st Place Overall Lineman Team, 2nd Place Team Crossarm Changeout.
- Max Rickelman, Apprentice Lineman, 2nd Place Overall Apprentice.
